The door gasket to our pellet stove is unravelling. The owner's manual states that the gasket is a tadpole, 10feet. We were looking into buying a new gasket and installing it, but the manual does not state the thickness of the gasket. They are sold in many different sizes. Is there any way to find out how thick the door gasket needs to be? Help!

Gasket manufactures all have a different density so yes you are right it is difficult to pick out the correct size we suggest cutting a small amount off the door and taking it to the local stove store or hardware store to match up the correct size.

on the subject of door gaskets: if the gasket is somewhat degraded what will the effects be. I have a Whitfield and it seems to be working okay but the stove is about 6 years old and I've been wondering about the gasket. Guess you glue them in? Do gaskets come in a kit with glue? Have you any suggestions for pulling off the old one? Jesse

Gasket kits are available on our website www.stovesandspas.com . Older Whitfield Advantage II-Ts use a 1/2 " gasket and should be replaced every 4 to 5 years regardless.
