I have PS-30 Whitfield pellet stove 4 years old. This week I cleaned it and went to restart it and it would run for 3 to 4 mins and would shut down. The flame gets nice then the auger stops working. If i press the on and off switch it comes back on and does the same thing. I thought it may be the high or low limit switches, I bypassed one switch and then both of them and still the same problem I just ordered a control panel from your company. Could this be the problem or is there something else I can check? Help!!!

With a Whitield or Traditions Stove the photo eye controls operation after start up it must be able to see that there is an established flame in the burn grate if it does not then it will shut down and go into default. First thing you want to do is clean the photo eye filter (mild soap and water) this is a small rose colored glass that is being held by a small square piece of sheet metal right in front of the photo eye be careful this glass is very expensive so dont brake it after that lightly dust the lense of the photo eye to remove any pellet dust. This should take care of your problem...now while your at it check the connections on the two high limit switches and on the back of the firewall...remember to always take the thermostat out of the loop when troubleshooting the stove. good luck call me if you need me. UPDATE: If your photo-eye filter is clean and your stove is still burnning lazy and going into fault then there is a restriction (ash) somewhere in the system..check and clean above the heat exchanger tubes, behind firebrick, behind firewall (this can only be done by removing exhaust fan) clean exhaust fan and oil, clean pressure switch rubber tube and nipples, clean pellet vent pipe to end of cap...if you need correct volt readings for the exhaust fan e-mail andy@stovesandspas.com
